Meet the heart and soul of Lyrics4Life — a loyal, passionate, slightly caffeinated group of music lovers who were looking for ways to give back to their community and passionate about music. Lyrics4Life was created from the alchemy of music and purpose.
They're not rockstars. Although one of them literally is — the rest of us make up for it with our blend of enthusiasm and sarcasm.
We're engineers and creatives, parents & professionals, weekend warriors and weeknight dreamers. What we have in common? A deep love for this city, its people, and the belief that a great story is worth listening to.
This city has been making great music long before us — and will long after. We're just honoured to hold the door open for a while.
We're Lyrics4Life, we're all from Ottawa, and we can't wait to hear your song.
Rob Hewitt
Entrepreneur. Musician. Family man — an Ottawa original.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Rob is the kind of person this city quietly produces and then wonders why it doesn't have more of. As an entrepreneur he knows how to turn a vision into something real, and as a musician he understands what spreadsheets can't capture — that a great song is evidence someone felt something deeply enough to write it down. Both skills turned out to be exactly what Lyrics4Life needed. Rob navigates the inevitable chaos of a volunteer-run non-profit the way he navigates everything else — with grace, good humour, and a big heart. Ottawa is lucky to have him. Lyrics4Life is luckier still. 🎸❤️

Warren is the reason Lyrics4Life looks as good as it sounds. As our logo creator and web designer, Warren took a big idea and gave it a visual identity worthy of the stage — the kind of work that looks effortless precisely because someone very talented worked very hard on it. Warren will tell you he's just a neighbour helping out. Don't believe him. Behind the carefully understated exterior is someone with a genuine gift for design, an instinct for what a brand needs to say before it says a word. Reliable, generous, and without nearly enough credit. 🎨✨

She's the kind of collaborator who lifts the whole room without ever needing the spotlight herself — which is ironic, because she's very good at knowing exactly where the light should go. Andrew approaches life fully committed, genuinely enthusiastic, and already thinking three moves ahead. A hobby musician with a sports fan's competitive spirit and an adventurer's instinct for saying yes before asking too many questions. As a musician himself, Andrew gets it — the vulnerability of putting your art into the world, the courage it takes to perform makes him a natural fit for Lyrics4Life. Willing accomplice. Chronically up for it. Lyrics4Life is better for having him along for the ride. 🎵🙌

Matt Sobb
Musical director & resident rockstar. Juno winner. Ottawa legend.
The one who actually knows what he's doing. Matt is a Juno Award-winning drummer, founding member of Canadian blues legends MonkeyJunk, and one of Ottawa's most respected musicians — which makes him either the most overqualified volunteer in history or exactly the right person for the job. We're going with the latter. As Lyrics4Life's musical director, Matt brings what no job posting could adequately describe: the credibility, the instinct, and the genuine love of his craft. We don't know what we did to deserve him. We're not going to question it. 🥁🏆

A content creator, performer, and community advocate with a genuine passion for music and the people who make it, Meera brings something to Lyrics4Life that can't be manufactured or faked — the authentic enthusiasm of someone who actually cares, deeply, about what this organization is trying to do. Meera keeps Lyrics4Life honest, current, and connected to the next generation of songwriters who are, let's be frank, the whole point. She understands instinctively how stories get told in 2026 — where they live, how they move, and why they matter. Talented, tireless, and genuinely one of the good ones. Lyrics4Life is cooler for having her — and we mean that in every sense of the word. 🎤💫

Matt Edmonds
First to volunteer, last to leave.
There are people who talk about helping and people who just show up and do it. When Lyrics4Life needed someone who could match passion for music with a genuine ability to make things happen, Matt didn't deliberate. He jumped in with both feet — which, if you know Matt, is exactly how he approaches everything worth doing. A man of shared values and serious follow-through, Matt brings the kind of grounded, roll-up-your-sleeves energy that volunteer organizations run on. Whether it's a challenge on the racetrack, on a construction site, or at the committee table, Matt's answer is the same: let's go. Enthusiastic about music. Allergic to excuses. Exactly who you want in your corner. 🏁🤝

Jonathan Hornsby lives comfortably at the intersection of two worlds that don't always speak the same language: engineering and marketing. He has spent his career being the person in the room who can translate between them. He thinks like an engineer and communicates like a marketer, which is a rarer combination than it sounds. A lifelong music connoisseur with an engineer's precision and a neighbour's generosity. We're not sure how we got lucky enough to have him, but we're absolutely not giving him back. 🔧📝
