Lyrics4Life is proud to announce the 2027 Songwriting Competition is now open for registration. Songwriters from across Canada are invited to submit original songs.
Three Categories. One Stage.
Entrants are invited to choose from the following categories that best reflects where they are in their songwriting journey or experience level:
All music genres are welcome. Full eligibility criteria are on the competition page.
We select song submissions based on lyrics, melody, and originality. Performance and production are not criteria for selection.

Got a song that you need to get out there? We've got a platform for aspiring songwriters like you.
Songwriting competition entry fee is $20 per submission.
You may submit multiple songs, but only one per songwriter can advance to the live awards show.
Song submissions and award show ticket sales support CHEO Foundation and music programs like The Audio Recording Academy (T.A.R.A.)

Key Dates
July 24, 2026 — Submissions open at noon
November 8, 2026 — Submissions close at midnight
Nov 9, 2026 – Jan 8, 2027 — Song Selection Committee review period
Jan 14, 2027 — Finalists announced
Jan 30–31, 2027 — Finalist rehearsal weekend at Raven Studios with the Uninvited Guests (House Band)
Feb 24–25, 2027 — Dress rehearsal & live awards show, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa
We select the Song, Not the Performer
Competition finalists earn prizes, studio recording time, and a rehearsal weekend with our House Band, the Uninvited Guests. The top 2 finalists per category perform at the live awards show where the winners are chosen by audience vote.
The spotlight is ready. Time to make a difference.
