Yan Simon is a singer-songwriter and recording artist creating pop music inspired by the emotional storytelling and spectacle of theatre. Blending upbeat, synth-driven electropop with heartfelt piano ballads, Yan's music explores themes of identity, queerness, love, and overcoming loss through honest, emotionally charged songwriting. Yan brings both vulnerability and theatricality to his work and live performances. Known for his signature eyeliner looks and rich vocals, his performance style evokes legendary queer icons like Freddie Mercury and Elton John, while drawing major musical inspiration from Lady Gaga. Since 2020 Yan has independently written, recorded, and released two studio albums, an EP, multiple singles, and accompanying music videos. His music has received radio airplay across Ontario and British Columbia, including notable support for his singles “Hey Boy” and “What Feels Good”. His single “Marathon” is also featured in the Ottawa-made Bell FibeTV film "Cassandra", streaming on Amazon and Tubi. With a sound that balances cinematic pop production with emotional authenticity, Yan continues to establish himself as a distinctive emerging voice in Canadian pop music. Alongside his music career Yan acts in Ottawa musical theatre productions while also developing his next album and writing an original musical.
