About

Tyra Whitson is an emerging folk singer-songwriter based in Edmonton, Alberta, creating music that feels both deeply personal and universal. Blending folk-pop styling with soulful, expressive vocals, her sound is rooted in emotional honesty and empowerment. Writing since her teens, Tyra uses music as a way to process emotional experiences- exploring themes of healing, relationships, trauma, and growth. Her songwriting is reflective, intimate and inspired by her own life. What begins as something deeply personal becomes something shared, offering listeners a sense of recognition, comfort, and connection. Her live performances are raw and grounded, drawing audiences into a space that feels both vulnerable and empowering. Whether performing in small listening rooms or on festival stages, Tyra’s performances stay with the listener. Her music has been featured by Wolf in a Suit, Bear Radio, and Neon Music, with radio airplay on CJSR, CKUA, and Splash 98.5 FM. With new music set for release in 2026, Tyra continues to carve out her place in Canada’s folk music scene.
